(UNDATED) - Greene County had the highest unemployment rate in the state in August, for the third consecutive month.
As the nation saw a decrease in unemployment from August of last year's 5.2 percent to just 5 percent this year, Indiana's unemployment increased - from 4.5 percent last year to 4.6 percent.
Greene County's increase of .1 percentage points to 6.6 percent.
Lawrence County's rate remained the same at 5.7 percent in both July and August.
Brown County decreased its unemployment rate of 4.1 percent last year to a rate of 3.8 percent during this past August. Also improving over last year's percentages were Lawrence and Owen counties. Lawrence County reported a joblessness rate of 6 percent last year and 5.7 percent this year. Owen County's rate in August 2015 was 5.5 percent. Now, it's 5.4 percent.
Dubois County has remained at the top for employment with a joblessness rate of 3.3 percent for August.
