(BLOOMINGTON) - A contractor working on I-69 between Bloomington and Martinsville says the state has given incorrect information about delayed contractor payments and construction delays.
State officials have threatened to find I-69 Development Partners LLC in default of its contract to upgrade 21 miles of the highway, saying it owes more than $9 million to subcontractors.
In a statement, Isolux Corsan, which was hired to build the segment, says it has encountered geological and permitting issues.
The company says it has asked the state for consideration for extra work costs and possibly a deadline extension due to factors beyond its control.
