(LOOGOOTEE) - A Loogootee man was arrested early Friday morning on charges of attempted murder.
The incident happened Thursday night at a home on Cooper Street around 9 p.m.
When officers arrived they found a man with a laceration. He was taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
Police say the man was He was able to identify his attacker as 44-year-old Craig Cain.
Cain was arrested at 1:49 a.m. on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery and criminal recklessness. Cain was taken to the Martin County Jail in Shoals, where he was being held without bond.
"We are still investigating this case," says Loogootee Police Chief Kelly Rayhill. "We're still trying to sort out the motive."
The Loogootee Police Department was assisted by the Martin County Sheriff's Department, Indiana State Police, Daviess County Sheriff's Department, Loogootee Fire Department and Martin County E.M.S.
