(BLOOMINGTON) - A Portage man was arrested early Sunday morning after fleeing from police near Brother’s Bar and Grill in the 200 block of North Walnut Street.
Police arrested 20-year-old Dylan Tsoris on charges of illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, public intoxication and felony escape.
According to police, Tsoris and another male were seen leaving the bar by two off-duty Lawrence County officers working private security.
The officers witnessed Tsoris vandalize the driver's side mirror of a B-Town Diner van, at which point he was approached by the two off-duty officers.
The second male was compliant, but Tsoris fled.
The officers followed on foot and apprehended Tsoris a short distance away from the scene. He was arrested and a Bloomington Police officer transported Tsoris to the Monroe County Jail.
While officers completed paperwork, Tsoris, still handcuffed, ran from the jail's intake area. An officer who had just arrived with another arrestee detained Tsoris, and the felony escape charge was added to the list of other charges Tsoris is facing.
Officers also found Tsoris in possession of a fake identification and drug paraphernalia.
