(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he was accused of striking a 3-year-old child and then elbowing and shoving a woman.
Lawrence County Police arrested 62-year-old Samuel Tuell of Bedford on Friday on a warrant charging him with battery resulting in bodily injury.
According to a Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, on August 11 both Lawrence County and Bedford police went to Tuell's home after a woman reported that she had received a text from her daughter requesting she call police.
The woman and her friend then walked to her daughter's house to see what was going on.
When they arrived, Tuell was still in the home and the daughter told her mother that Tuell had struck their 3-year-old child. While the woman went to check on the child, she was shoved and elbowed by Tuell. The woman suffered chest pain and had trouble breathing
A short time later, the woman claimed Tuell elbowed her again and shoved her into the front deck of the home.
The friend, who went with the woman to the home, told police she saw Tuell make fists with both hands then strike the woman in the chest. She also told police she saw Tuell elbow the woman in the side.
