(ORLEANS) - A Bedford man is listed in critical condition after he crashed his dirt bike just outside of Orleans on Wednesday night.
According to an Indiana Conservation Department report, 27-year-old Kephon Stevens was flown by medical helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital.
According to police, Stevens was riding a dirt bike on private property on County Road 775 North an was attempting to make a jump between two hills when the front wheel struck an embankment, throwing him from the bike. The bike then landed on top of him.
Police say, Stevens was an experienced rider and was wearing adequate protective gear, including a helmet and chest protector, which they say saved his life.
