(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was injured Saturday when the vehicle he was in struck was involved in a hit-and-run accident.
According to a Bedford Police report, 46-year-old Doyle Phipps of Bedford complained of back pain and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
The accident happened at 5:40 p.m. at the intersection of Ind. 37 and 16th Street.
According to police, Phipps was in a vehicle driven by 68-year-old Joan S. Phipps of Bedford. The two were traveling northbound on State Road 37 in their 2016 Chevrolet TRA and were stopped for a stoplight in the easternmost lane when their vehicle was stuck in the rear.
Joan Phipps told police that the other driver pulled up alongside of their vehicle after the accident, apologized several times and then drove off, turning east on 16th Street.
She described the second driver as a male with missing teeth and as having a thin build.
