(BLOOMFIELD) - A Bloomfield School District biology teacher arrested on child seduction charges was suspended Monday.
Franklin D. Hall Jr. was arrested last week for allegedly having sexual relations with a student.
A probable cause affidavit filed with Greene Circuit Court Monday, details the incident and charges. Hall is facing a Level 5 felony charge of child seduction, a Class B misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana and a Class C misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Greene County Daily World reports that Interim Superintendent Doug Rose says Hall is suspended with pay as part of due process. Just before 3 p.m. on Monday, Rose was waiting on word from the prosecutor's office as to if the charges were accepted before moving on to the next step in consideration of Hall's employment.
The probable cause affidavit filed by Bloomfield Town Marshal Kenneth Tharp states the investigation began in May after a parent informed him of rumors surrounding a sexual relationship with a student.
Tharp reported that the student initially denied the allegations, but in October requested to speak to Tharp and provided details of alleged sexual encounters that happened on two separate incidents.
The teenager provided detailed descriptions about Hall's home, sexual toys and his appearance. The teen reported their relationship started through Snapchat, a social media application in which photos or videos sent to another user disappear after a set period of time. The teen alleged Hall had sent a photo of his genitalia through the application, and the interactions escalated.
The two made arrangements via Snapchat to meet at Hall's home, where the alleged sexual encounters took place.
The teen told police that Hall gave her money, gave grades that were not earned to the teen and told her he was a "hopeless romantic."
The teen alleges that Hall then become rude and threatening in his messages.
Police secured a search warrant for Hall's home on Thursday and found items that corroborated the teen's story, including the fact that Hall has his nipples pierced. Police also located the sexual toys.
During their search police also found raw marijuana, smoking pipes and scales used in the sale of marijuana.
Hall has denied the teen's allegations.
