(BEDFORD) - The City of Bedford is moving forward with plans to purchase property for the development of the Lincoln Avenue roundabout.
According to Bedford Street Commissioner Dan Kirk, the owner of the building, Chester and Linda Batmen, at the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Williams Boulevard and the small parcels of land have received two appraisals appraisals for the property.
The submitted appraisals are for $115,000 and $130,000. The city cannot pay more than the average of the two appraisals. The owners can either accept the city's offer or make a counter offer.
In August, the Indiana Department of Transportation awarded $528,000 to the city of Bedford through the state's Community Crossings matching grant funds for the roundabout at Lincoln Avenue and John Williams Boulevard as well as pave Lincoln Avenue and replace sidewalks.
Officials say if there is not complications the project could begin this spring.
If the project stays on schedule, construction could begin this spring.
