The event is Saturday, at the base's sports complex, just outside of the main gate, will have activities for the entire family, including inflatables, outdoor activities, a vendor village and more.
"By having this celebration off base, we can bring the community and the base together," said Jeff M. Nagan, an installation spokesperson. "For the last 75 years, the community has been integral to our success. To show our appreciation, we wanted this event to be open to the public."
Vendors include food sales and goods by local and area artisans.
"Between the vendors and the outdoor activities, there's something for everyone," added Nagan.
The Commodore Run half-marathon and 5-kilometer race will be going on at the same time. With the public, friends and families cheering, runners will start and finish their respective race near the sports complex, with the route taking them on the base.
"Since the event is open to the public, entire families can be there to cheer runners on," said Nagan. "This is a great way for the community to come together in a positive way."
