(SALEM) - Firefighters from Pierce-Polk, Salem and Borden fire department battled a house fire on Ind. 60 East on Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 11:12 a.m. at 4504 Ind. 60 East after a relative called a neighbor and asked if their house was on fire. That neighbor told her relative 'no' and then looked outside and saw smoke bellowing from home the next-door and then proceeded to call 911.
The homeowner, Meliegha Tankersley, was not home when the fire started.
The fire, electrical in nature, caused extensive structure, water and smoke damage to the home.
Firefighters say the fire started in a breaker panel. Officials were on the scene until 1:10 p.m.
