(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County is looking to hire a human resources individual.
Currently county officials are developing a job description for the position. The county has been out of compliance with state regulations for years by not having a human resources person, but was unable to hire someone because of budget constraints.
County officials hope to have someone hired by January. They will begin advertising to fill the position at the first of the year.
The parameters and duties of the human resources position are still points of debate between the commissioners and council, says Commissioner Chris May. But, one of the person's responsible for recording and bookkeeping associated with Obamacare which has overwhelmed current staff members.
The County Council approved and funded the position in the 2017 budget.
