(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police arrested a man who fled the scene of an accident Sunday morning that left another man seriously injured.
Police arrested 22-year-old Frelimo Kweheria on preliminary charges of leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving.
Bloomington Police Lt. Brad Seifers says officers learned Kweheria had went to his mother's home in Fort Wayne and when he learned police were looking for him returned to Bloomington Monday and turned himself in. He had hired an attorney and refused to speak to police.
According to police, the driver of a Chrysler Sebring was traveling north on Lincoln Street at about 1 a.m. Sunday. They ran a stop sign and struck a green Honda passenger car that was traveling on 10th Street. Police say the driver, who they believe is Kweheria, and a passenger from the Chrysler ran from the scene of the crash. Police have not identified the passenger.
