According to a Lawrence County Police report, 42-year-old Mikel Morris of Bedford was entering a sharp 90 degree curve when a deer jumped out in front of his 2008 Zejiang scooter.
Morris swerved to miss the deer and laid the scooter down and continued off the roadway.
Police say Morris did not seek medical attention and didn't report the accident when it happened at 1 a.m. Sunday.
He did seek medical attending Monday at 12:30 p.m. and St. Vincent Dunn Hospital emergency room personnel called police to report they were treating Morris after he had been injured in the accident.
Morris suffered minor scrapes and bruises and complained of leg pain.
Morris told police he didn't report the accident when it happened because he doesn't like dealing with law enforcement. He told police he drove his scooter from the scene.
