(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man suffered a possible fractured leg after he crashed his pickup into an utility pole Monday morning.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 69-year-old William Conley was traveling east on Ind. 60 West near Liberty Church Road when his 1987 GM pickup left the roadway and struck a utility police head on.
Conley had to be freed from the wreckage by firefighters from Bedford Fire Department and Marion Volunteer Fire Department.
Police say Conley, who is insulin dependent, told a Seals ambulance crew his blood-sugar had been extremely high and medics believe due to his high sugar level he lost consciousness prior to the crash. Police say there were no brake or tire marks at the scene corroborating the medical findings.
