(SEYMOUR) - A man escaped serious injury Friday after Seymour Police officers were able to get him out a house fire on the northwest side of Seymour.
The fire was reported at 2:24 p.m. at the home of 90-year-old Calvin Simpson at 927 Holly Drive, after a relative who was at the home smelled smoke and called 911.
According to Seymour Police Lt. John Watson, the fire started in an exhaust fan in the bathroom. He and fellow Officers Keith Williams and Chadd Rogers got Simpson safely out of the house.
Seymour firefighters extinguished the fire and say the fire could have been much worse if the relative alerted officials when they did.
