(BEDFORD) - The United Way of South Central Indiana is underway.
The annual campaign that raises money for 10 nonprofit agencies began earlier this month and will continue through January.
The 2016-2017 goal is $225,000. The 2015-16 campaign raised $214,500.
The United Way helps fund agencies such as the American Red Cross, Hoosier Hills PACT (which helps victims of domestic violence), Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County, Senior Citizens of Lawrence County, Boy Scouts, Salvation Army, Community Health and Wellness Center, Lawrence InterFaith Endeavor, Life Designs and Paoli Senior Citizens assist local people with dozens of services.
The United Way campaign relies mainly on payroll deduction and internal workplace campaigns, but individuals can donate at any time during the campaign.
Workplace campaigns will take place now through January. To request a presentation, pledge cards and information about United Way of SCI agencies, call Hamer at (812) 278-8613.
Individuals who want to donate but don't have payroll deduction can send in a one-time donation or request a quarterly invoice.
