(WILLIAMS) - A Williams man was arrested after he crashed his vehicle on Williams Road near Marshall Drive Tuesday morning.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, officers went to the area after a report of an SUV in the ditch.
When police arrived they found 31-year-old Anthony Burns sitting in the passenger seat and bleeding profusely from a laceration on his right ear.
Burns was treated at the scene by an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew.
Police say Burns is a habitual traffic violator. Burns denied driving the vehicle, but through further investigation police determined Burns was the driver and he was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle being a habitual offender.
According to police, Burns was traveling west on Williams Road when the 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe went left of center around a slight curve, leaving marks from the skidding tires. The SUV then went off the right side of the road and collided with two new paper boxes at 2429 and 2428 Williams Road. The SUV then struck the edge of a driveway spun around and re-entered the roadway. The vehicle spun a second time causing it to go off the side of the road and into the ditch.
There was heavy damage to the entire vehicle, with extensive damage to the front end.
