(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police are investigating a report of a sexual assault.
According to Bloomington Police Lt. John Kovach, a 31-year-old woman reported the incident just after noon on Friday. The woman told police she was raped on Aug. 29, but an unknown male behind her workplace on the far south side of Bloomington.
The woman told police she was lured behind her workplace by a 35-year-old female friend/co-worker to meet a guy for an unknown reason. The women waited near an enclosed dumpster area behind the establishment.
A man arrived in his vehicle and approached the women. The woman's co-worker, who was an accomplice in the rape, told the woman what was going to happen to her.
The man then forced the woman against the dumpster and raped her. The woman fought off the attack. The man then said something to the co-worker/accomplice and left.
The woman didn't report the rape after the incident because she feared for her safety and the safety of her family.
Police photographed scrapes and bruises on the woman. They then went to the establishment to speak to the alleged accomplice but learned she no longer worked there. Police did obtain video security footage of the area which is being reviewed.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Bloomington Police.
