(PAOLI) - Orange County Players’ Madrigal will celebrate its 23rd season as a community tradition on December 8-10 with performances at Paoli First Presbyterian Church.
Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. and include the traditional Madrigal feast and holiday concert. Gary Spear will direct the yuletide event.
Orange County Players' stated mission is "to promote participation in, and the enjoyment of, the visual/performing arts and to encourage the development of excellence in these arts. Orange County Players brings together performing artists of different age groups with different perspectives for the purpose of creating quality entertainment for the community. Participants gain a sense of achievement, self-confidence and pride.
Orange County Players' Madrigal lends authenticity to the season with period costumes, traditional holiday food and medieval music performed by members of the cast.
Singing in OCP's Madrigal this year are sopranos Kristina Allen, Darlene Larrison, Sarah Ralston and Rebecca Kauffman.
Altos for this year's Madrigal season include Chelsea Bolas, Julia Johnson, Becky Larrison, Denise Straley and Maria Wishart.
Tenors singing in the Madrigal are Matthew Canada, Patrick Fields, Kate Henderson and Kyle Johnson. The bass section features Howard Detweiler, Larry Hollan, Mike Johnson, Bill Laughlin and Chase Meehan.
The Madrigal concert will feature traditional 14th- and 15th-century music including "Magnificat," "If Ye Love Me," "Cheribum Song," "The Lord's My Shepherd," In the Bleak Midwinter," Ding Dong Merrily on High," "Angels We have Heard on High," "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" and "The First Nowell."
Paoli First Presbyterian Church will cater the authentic medieval meal, including salad, pork loin, apple-raisin dressing, new potatoes, green beans, bread and date cake. Madrigal tickets will cost $18 per person and ticket reservations are required.
