(BLOOMINGTON) - A man has been arrested for the rape of a 19-year-old female on Thursday.
Bloomington Police Sgt. Joe Crider says 25-year-old Alejandro Perez-Cortez is facing a felony charge of rape.
Police were alerted to the rape on October 4 when the woke up at her apartment to Perez-Cortez sexually assaulting her. The victim told police Perez-Cortez was a friend and had been over drinking with the female and her husband.
The victim reported screaming when she woke up and as Perez-Cortez was leaving, she told her husband she had been raped. Her husband then chased Perez-Cortez out of the residence, Crider says.
After Perez-Cortez fled, the couple immediately left to file a report at the police station at 6:50 a.m. on October 4.
Bloomington Police located Perez-Cortez on Thursday at the Monroe County Justice Building where they arrested him.
