(MITCHELL) - A Bloomington woman suffered injuries after her vehicle crossed the centerline and was struck by a semi tractor-trailer Tuesday morning.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 27-year-old Kelcy Iles was traveling northbound on Ind. 37 near Dillon Road when she reached down to pick up her glasses and drove her 2003 Buick Rendezvous across the centerline.
Her vehicle was struck in the left rear by a southbound 2010 Volvo semi tractor-trailer driven by 36-year-old Christopher Bowen of Plainfield. The collision caused her vehicle to spin.
The Rendezvous then went over an embankment and landed on its top, trapping Iles inside.
Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department first responders and Bedford Fire Department extrication unit both worked to free Iles from the wreckage.
"It was a lengthy extrication," says Marion VFD Capt. Paul Gillespie.
Iles complained of body pain and was flown by an AirEvac medical helicopter to a Louisville Hospital for treatment.
Bowen was not injured.
