(LINTON) - A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Linton man accused of stealing money from Linton Moose Lodge #1434.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Linton Police began their investigation after Linton Moose Lodge official Jim Priest received bank statements that were suspicious in nature.
Police then contacted Main Source Bank and discovered David Griggs Sr. had ordered a Main Source Master Debit Card on the Moose Lodge account.
On January 14 Griggs had wrote himself a personal check of $922.24, that was not due to him.
Police also discovered that from February till July of this year had charged a total of $3,822.33 on the card, including $1,215 in ATM charges, the purchase of an iPhone 6 and renting a 55-inch television with the contract in Griggs' name.
After discovering the missing funds, Priest confronted Griggs, who admitted to getting the debit card and using it to purchase items.
Police then requested Griggs to come to the police station for an interview.
Griggs said he couldn't until Monday because he was leaving town. Griggs did not show up for his interview on Monday. Police attempted to contact Griggs by phone but he would not answer the phone.
In the meantime, Griggs had contacted Priest requesting to pay back the money.
Griggs is facing two Level 6 felony counts of theft.
