(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested on a warrant charging him with three counts of domestic battery.
Lawrence County Police arrested 20-year-old Derrike Barksdale of Bedford following an investigation initiated in October.
According to a Lawrence Superior Court I probable cause affidavit, Barksdale is facing two Level 6 felony counts of domestic battery in the presence of a child and a Class A misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.
According to police, the crime was committed on October 11 after Barksdale allegedly grabbed a woman by the back of her neck and then pushing her to the hall, leaving a mark on her upper left arm. The second felony charge occurred on October 13, when Barksdale allegedly threw the woman down.
The charge for the misdemeanor count states Barksdale battered the same woman on October 12 and that he pushed her back into a couch causing her to roll to the floor. He then picked her up causing her right leg to drag across a metal end of a kitchen chair, cutting her leg. The woman suffered pain and bruising to her upper right leg; pain and a cut on the outside of her right leg near the knee and additional pain and bruising to both legs.
