(LOOGOOTEE) - Nine people were arrested on meth charges after police conducted a welfare check at at a home on Poplar Street home Thursday.
Early Thursday morning, the Martin County Sheriff's Department received a request to conduct a welfare check on Justin Crosby at 105 Poplar St. because a family member was concerned his life was in danger.
According to a press release, officers went to the home and knocked on the front door several times without receiving a response. However, police could hear and see people moving inside. Mike Kane, exited the back door and officers found him.
"During interactions with the officers, Kane tossed his phone and wallet on the ground," the release stated. "With those items was a small bag of suspected methamphetamine. Kane informed the officers that he lived at this residence and they were welcome to go inside and look for Crosby."
As police walked through the home, they found several drug paraphernalia items. The deputies obtained a search warrant and arrested nine Loogootee residents, including Crosby and Kane.
The others who were arrested were: 19-year-old Ashlyn Jewell,19; Morgan Wells; 36-year-old Joshua Payne; 25-year-old Devon Payne; 30-year-old Christian Stinebaugh; 39-year-old James Brim Jr. and 28-year-old Brad Zins.
Loogootee Police Department and Daviess County Sheriff Department assisted in the investigation.
