(OOLITIC) - An Oolitic man was arrested Friday after he allegedly choked a woman and the dragged her through glass.
Lawrence County Police arrested 40-year-old William Miller on charges of domestic battery and strangulation.
According to Sheriff Mike Branham, officers were alerted at 9:12 p.m. Friday after a woman reported that she and her daughter were talking on the phone and the daughter said a man threatened her with a knife.
When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke to a 38-year-old Edinburgh woman who was bleeding from her arm.
Police found Miller in the bedroom. Miller appeared intoxicated because his speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol, Sheriff Branham says.
The woman told police Miller was drunk, grabbed her around the neck and choked her. He then threw her on the couch, hit her several times and dragged her in the kitchen through broken glass.
Sheriff Branham says that the woman suffered cuts on her left arm, scrapes on her face, swelling and bruising over her right eye. Miller had a small scratch on his elbow. Both refused medical treatment.
Miller arrested and is being held without bond because he was arrested in September after being found drunk at Williams Dam and resisted arrest.
