(ORLEANS) - The Orange County Historical Society is finalizing plans for a number of upcoming special events.
OCHS President Robert F. Henderson announced the group will be opening the Historic Lindley Farm House for an Old-Fashioned 1860s holiday type of event during the upcoming Paoli Merchants 20th Annual Open House on Nov. 20 from 1 p.m. till 5 p.m.
The Museum on the Courthouse Square will also be open for the event. Everyone is welcome to visit both locations, since this will be the last day to visit both this year.
While at the events visitors can purchase gift for those on their Christmas lists.
In other business:
A number of winterization projects are slated to be completed at both the Museum and the Lindley House site prior to closing and shuttering things up for the winter months.
Henderson expressed appreciation for the small but dedicated volunteer group who freely give of their time and talents to help with various projects throughout the year.

A number of workdays are planned at the Museum in early 2017. Displays at the Museum need to be changed quarterly. Those displays are stored and others brought out.
At the Lindley House to protect items - some furniture, clothing, quilts, and linens need to be changed and stored during the off-season in order to better preserve those items.

A new brand new full-colored brochure is heading to the printers and will feature the Lindley House and the Museum.

The Orange County Historical Society is preparing a "Christmas Wish List" of some currently needed items.

Now through November 15, OCHS is playing host to Indiana Historical Society's Endangered Heritage traveling exhibit which is displayed at the Paoli Public Library.
This exhibit gives examples of the most common dangers to objects and documents in Hoosier history collections and suggests some solutions to the problems.

The Orange County Historical Society's next regular meeting will be November 22 at Paoli Public Library at 7pm. This will also be the annual election of officers.

The Orange County Historical Society's Annual Christmas Dinner will be December 1st at Orleans United Methodist Church at 6 pm. Membership dues/renewals for 2017 will be payable at year's end as well.
