(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Parks Department is preparing for three favorite Santa events.
The first is the Letters from Santa project. Parents register their offspring to receive letters from St. Nick postmarked from the North Pole.
Official forms now are available at Thornton Park and must be completed and returned to the office by Thursday, December 1.
Or, they can be faxed to (812) 275-1652 or emailed to jwebb@bedford.in.us or amcintyre@bedford.in.us.
The letter campaign is sponsored by Riverside Printing, Bedford Ford and Bedford Body & Paint.
The second project, Santa Paws, is scheduled for Monday, December 5, and Tuesday, December 6, from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wilson Park Shelter House, Santa Paws celebrates its third season as a fundraiser for the White River Humane Society's animal shelter.
For a $15 donation to the shelter, Natalie Smith of Kore Photography snaps photos of pets posing with Santa.
The third event is the popular annual Santa's House scheduled for December 8-10 at Otis Park. Members of the Otis Park Ladies Club and parks department staff offer refreshments in the Otis Bath House and a movie and crafts in the Red Brick before ushering families aboard a custom-made sleigh to ride along a Christmas lighted path leading to the stone shelter house atop the 13th green, where Mrs. Claus will read the Night Before Christmas and Santa will visit with children.
Anyone wishing to set up or contribute a Christmas-themed inflatable or attractive display should contact the office at (812) 275-5692.
