(BLOOMINGTON) - The City of Bloomington Planning & Transportation Department invites anyone interested to a public meeting regarding a transportation project located along 10th Street from Smith Road to Deckard Drive.
The meeting will begin with a brief presentation, but primarily will be an open house format.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at University Elementary School, at 111 North Russell Road. Attendees are welcome to arrive any time between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
If you cannot attend this meeting and have questions or comments, please feel free to contact Neil Kopper, City of Bloomington Project Engineer, at koppern@bloomington.in.gov or 812-349-3423.
After the meeting, the City will post relevant materials on the project webpage.
Please share this information with others who may be interested, particularly if you are active in a neighborhood association or other organization.
Project Description:
This project will construct a new sidewalk on the south/east side of 10th Street from Smith Road to Deckard Drive; a pedestrian crossing of 10th Street at Deckard Drive including a median refuge, signage, striping, and curb ramps; and school zone flashing beacons along 10th Street near the crossing.
Project designs are still conceptual and have not been finalized. Feedback based on local experience frequently results in modifications to initial project proposals. Interested parties are encouraged to attend the public meeting to discuss the project and share ideas for improvements.
Funding for the design of these improvements is provided through the Common Council Sidewalk Committee. At this time, no construction funding has been identified. The City of Bloomington is partnering with the Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC) and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to complete this important project.
More information is also included on the project webpage at bloomington.in.gov/10thsidewalk.
