(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Council voted to spend $78,100 to repair the roof on the old JayC store building at Dunn Plaza.
During its October session, the council refused a request from the commissioners to fix the roof after the commissioners only sought one bid on the project from B&L Sheet Metal and Roofing of Bloomington.
Councilman Sam Craig didn't like that only one bid was sought after declaring it was an emergency to repair the roof allowing them to seek only one bid. But Craig and Councilman Jim Edwards disagreed with the commissioners saying it was their responsibility to determine who county money was spent.
Last week, Commissioner David Flinn offered the council three bids. Proposals by both Royalty Roofing, HRC Roofing and Sheet Metal didn't satisfy the project's specs, so the council accepted B&L's bid.
