(LOOGOOTEE) - A traffic stop for a violation led to the arrest of a Batesville man for numerous drug charges.
At 8:27 p.m. on Sunday, Indiana State Trooper Andrew Beaver was patrolling U.S/ 50 near Loogootee when he observed a vehicle in excess of the posted 55 mile per hour speed limit.
As Trooper Beaver began his traffic stop and spoke with 18-year-old Thor King of Batesville, he could smell the odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.
While speaking with King, Beaver asked Martin County Deputy Tyler Reed and his K9 partner Virka to assist him with the stop.
During the investigation, officers located 78 individually packaged baggies, each containing 1 gram of marijuana, in a large glass container. Officers additionally found a large digital scale, a receipt book, and a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana.
King was placed into custody without incident and transported to the Martin County Jail on Level 6 felony charges of dealing in marijuana over 30 grams, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of marijuana over 30 grams and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
