(BLOOMINGTON) - A woman walking in downtown Bloomington Tuesday flagged down an officer after an unknown man approached her from behind, placed his arm around her and started kissing her neck.
The 24-year-old woman told police the man also touched the cheek of her 1-year-old daughter without permission.
The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. on Kirkwood Avenue near Washington Street.
The woman requested the assistance of a Bloomington officer who was on foot patrol in the area. She then pointed out the man who was sitting nearby to the officer as the man who kissed and touched her.
Bloomington police Sgt. Joe Crider says the 49-year-old man denied touching the woman or the child.
Sgt. Crider says that the investigation officer is sending their case report to the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office and requesting the man be charged with misdemeanor-level battery.
