(BEDFORD) - Bedford home builder Ralph “Jack” Yeary requested a zoning change by the Bedford Plan Commission to allow for construction of condos in the 200 block of 19th Street.
Yeary died October 11 but his family informed the commission they wish to complete the project.
A few neighbors in the area had questions about the project. Their concerns were not about the construction of the condos or the rezoning, but concerns about increased traffic and on-street parking on B Street.
The Times-Mail reports that one neighbor; Addie Datish, who lives in the area; reported she has had flooding in her backyard after rain storms due to the excavation work for the condos. She too was also concerned about increased traffic on the narrow street.
Officials told Datish they would check out the flooding issue and agreed the street needed widened.
If the family agrees to put i the infrastructure and provide a base layer on the street, the city agreed to pave the road.
The Plan Commission voted to rezone the property to R-3 with the stipulation no stacked units be allowed. The issue now moves to Bedford City Council for approval.
