(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he allegedly slapped a woman in the face and pulled her hair.
Officers were called to the U.S. 50 East near Farmers Market at after a woman reported she had been battered and fled.
The woman told police that 37-year-old Laduke Warwick had threatened to kill her and her family.
According to Lawrence County Police Chief Deputy Aaron Shoults, the battery happened earlier in the day around 8:34 p.m. at a home in the 6000 block of Ind. 58 East.
"The suspect battered the victim by slapping her on both sides of the face and pulling her hair," Chief Shoults says. "The victim was able to get away from the suspect after both left the house in a vehicle and later stopped at a business located at Ind. 446 and U.S. 50 East (Farmers Market).
The woman was able to find help at a nearby home after driving away from the business without Warwick and was able to call police.
"The woman suffered redness and minor bruising under both eyes and cheeks. She also had hair pulled out," Chief Shoults added.
Officers located Warwick at 1:09 a.m. this morning, after a motorist reported a man in a black sweatshirt jumped out in front of a motorist attempting to flag them down for a ride at U.S. 50 and Ind. 446.
He was arrested on charges of domestic battery and transported to the Lawrence County Security Center.
