(OOLITIC) - A Bedford man was arrested Sunday after Lawrence County Police were called to a loud argument at the apartments in the 600 block of West 9th Street in Oolitic.
"An occupant of one of the apartments heard the loud argument, but could not identify from which apartment," says Sheriff Mike Branham. "While officers were checking apartments to locate the problem, they noticed a white male outside one of the buildings acting strangely and motioning or gesturing."
The officers then watched the man enter an apartment and went and knocked on the door.
The male who answered, 24-year-old Samuel Pruett, appeared to be intoxicated and had what appeared to be blood on his pants.
Inside the apartment, police noticed another male, who was Pruett's brother, who had a bloody nose.
The victim told police he was trying to go to sleep when someone started hitting him in the face for no reason.
"The victim stated that he tried to defend himself, but his brother was out of control," Sheriff Branham added. "The victim also stated that his brother choked him to the point where he almost passed out."
Police arrested Samuel Pruett of Bedford on a charge of domestic battery and strangulation.
