(WASHINGTON) - A Bloomington man was arrested after the stole a vehicle and lead police from several departments on a chase through Daviess and Pike counties early Wednesday morning.
Washington City Police arrested 39-year-old Eric Keith Richardson, on charges of auto theft, resisting law enforcement by fleeing in a motor vehicle, habitual traffic offender (lifetime) and criminal trespass.
According to police, around 3 a.m. Wednesday, Richardson stole a Jeep from Bros Pharmacy from behind a building at the Holiday Inn Express.
About 10 minutes later a Washington Police Officer located the vehicle on the U.S. 50 Bypass and attempted to stop the vehicle, but Richardson fled.
According to police, the pursuit continued onto Ind. 257 at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour into Pike County where the Jeep turned onto Ind. 56 and then went through a field to Pike County Road 975.
The chase ran along a county road along White River, then onto Portesville Road, County Road 550 North before heading back onto Ind. 257 and back north toward Washington.
The pursuit continued along U.S. 50 to Old Highway 50 south of Montgomery, where Richardson turned north onto County Road 900 East through Cannelburg. That is where Richardson lost control of the Jeep and the vehicle rolled onto its side near All Saints Church ending the pursuit at 4:10 a.m.
Richardson was arrested and taken to Daviess Community Hospital where he was medically cleared and then take to the Daviess County Jail where he is being held on a $10,000 bond.
