(SEYMOUR) - A Seymour man is facing three felony charges of child molesting and a count of domestic battery.
Jackson County Sheriff's deputies arrested 30-year-old Johnny Jonas on November 26 after deputies were called to a home in the northeast part of the county on a report of a domestic fight.
Jonas had battered his 24-year-old wife. None of the wife's children were present during the fight, but one did come into the room after hearing her mother pushed up against a freezer.
Jonas and his wife were fighting because of accusations that Jonas had inappropriately touched to children under the age of 5.
The Department of Child Services was called to assist and after an investigation and interviews with the children at Susie's Place, a child advocacy center in Bloomington, Jonas was arrested on two counts of child molesting and one count of domestic battery. He was booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 6:21 p.m. November 26.
After Jackson County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Jeff Chalfant reviewed the case, Jonas was charged with an additional count of child molesting.
If convicted, Jonas faces two to 12 years of prison time for each count of child molesting and six months to two and a half years for domestic battery.
Reserve Officers Steve Murphy and Rick Hirtzel assisted Nicholson at the scene.
