(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he and a woman fled from store security after they had stolen several items from Walmart Saturday night.
Police arrested 49-year-old Kenny Deckard of Bedford on a charge of theft.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to the store just after 5:30 p.m.
Chief Parsley says that Deckard and another female were approached by store security after they were caught placing items in to a laundry basket and failed to pay for those items. The two took off running and police were able to capture Deckard near the pharmacy doors.
Deckard refused to cooperate with lost prevention and officers.
Chief Parsley says that Deckard and the female stole several items from household supplies like bleach, makeup, clothing, medication and other items.
"This case is still under investigation," Chief Parsley says. "Other arrests may follow."
