(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after Lawrence County Police were called to a domestic dispute in the 160 block of Emily Lane on Tuesday.
A woman reported that 25-year-old Bradley Burton was preventing her from leaving the home with her 2-year-old child. She stressed he was armed with an AR-15.
"Dispatchers told the woman to go into a bedroom with the child and lock the door," says Sheriff Branham. "That is when she reported she heard a shot."
The department's Emergency Response Team was alerted along with an Indiana State Police negotiator while other officers rushed to the scene.
The male surrendered to deputies before the ERT and negotiator arrived at the scene.
When officers arrived they ordered Burton to put down the weapon and come out of the house which he did. Inside the home, officers found three guns, a glass smoking pipe and digital scale.
Burton was taken to IU Health Hospital for a medical evaluation and then arrested on charges of criminal confinement, criminal recklessness and domestic battery. He is being held in the Lawrence County Jail on a $50,000 surety or $5,005 cash bond.
