(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested on a warrant after he allegedly attempted to strangle a woman during a domestic fight.
Lawrence County Police arrested 35-year-old Michael McVicker of Bedford on Sunday on charges of strangulation and domestic battery.
A Lawrence Superior Court I probable cause affidavit says that on December 6, Bedford police officers were called to an apartment on Ted Jones Drive to investigate a battery complaint.
A woman told police that McVicker got angry with her and when she tried to get up from the bed he had become angry with her and he shoved her back on the bed. The woman was able to get up and that is when McVicker pushed her into some closet doors and grabbed her by the neck and squeezed, making it had for her to breathe.
She was able to get away from McVickers again and that is when he grabbed her and threw her to the floor.
Police say the woman had a mark on her forehead and suffered bruises to her neck, lip and chin. She also complained of neck pain.
