(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man has been arrested in connection to several Bloomington robberies.
On Sunday, Bloomington Police officers were called to investigation a report of a suspicious male walking towards Denny's restaurant on North Walnut Street.
Officer Trevor Sager checked the area and found 36-year-old Randall D. Smith Jr. standing on the south side of McDonald's Restaurant at 2300 North Walnut Street.
Officer Sager immediately noticed the similarities between Smith and the male who witnesses described in several robberies in the area.
When Officer Sager attempted to talk to Smith, he fled east into the tree line. Officer Sager was able to catch Smith, who continued to fight with the officer.
Police found a cell phone Smith had taken from the clerk during the robber at the Village Pantry at 901N. Indiana on Saturday.
Detectives interviewed Smith and he confessed to the attempted robbery at the Circle K, 440 E. Third Street, and the robbery at the Village Pantry.
Smith was arrested on two felony counts of robbery and a misdemeanor count of resisting law enforcement.
