City Of Bedford Hoping To Purchase Salvation Army Building

Last updated on Thursday, January 12, 2017

(BEDFORD) - The city of Bedford is hoping to purchase the Salvation Army building.

Mayor Shawna Girgis received approval from the board of works to make an offer to purchase the building at the corner of 17th and K streets.

The property, which includes the limestone building and a small house beside it, is listed at $105,000.

The Times Mail reports that the city is required to get two appraisals of the property and can't pay more than the average of the two appraisals. The matter must also receive approval from the Bedford City Council, which they approved Tuesday night.

The city has no specific plans for the property, but does want to acquire it because of its proximity to other city buildings on the same block. The building could also be used for the future home of the Bedford Police Department.
