(MITCHELL) - Lawrence County police are investigating an accident that happened Saturday night in the 1420 block of Fleenor Road.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, officers arrived on the scene and no individuals were in the vehicle. Blood was found on the passenger seat, the center console and the passenger door and window.
Police say the vehicle was found abandoned after it struck a wooden fence post.
According to police, the vehicle was found about 1,000 feet south of the intersection of Fleenor and Parks Addition Road. It is speculated that the unknown driver was traveling north on Fleenor Road and had missed the curve. The vehicle; a 1998 Volvo S70, registered to Thomas Knight of Mitchell; went broadsided and into the fence post and then stopped in a cow pasture
A witness who lived just north of the accident scene told police that he gave two males a ride to downtown Mitchell. The two told the witness they would come back for the vehicle, but police had it towed.
