Bloomington Police Looking For Man Using Bogus $100 Bills

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police are looking for a man who used bogus $100 bills at eight westside businesses within three hours on Monday.

The U.S. Secret Service is assisting with the investigation. The man's image was capture on surveillance video. He is described as a black man in his mid-20s who is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and has teardrop tattoos on his face.

Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams says five businesses reported receiving counterfeit bills Monday evening: Bucceto's Smiling Teeth, Mother Bear's Pizza, Cirilla's, Once Upon a Child and Style Encore.

Then on Tuesday, Chase Bank officials contacted police after finding counterfeit bills mixed in with deposits from Penn Station, O'Charley's and Cato.

Capt Kellams says in each incident the man in the photo made small food orders or purchased inexpensive items, paying with fake $100 bills and receiving legitimate cash as change.
