(UNDATED) - Coronary Heart Disease is the most common type of heart disease in the United States.
It's the leading cause of death for both men and women.
And in Indiana, it also tops the list.
In fact, Indiana ranks as one of the top 10 states for heart disease.
Dr. David Goff, Director of the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, says the Hoosier State is ranked at number 5 across all states. He says it's West Virginia that takes the top spot.
Goff says there's a reason for that and it's because people in those states tend to smoke cigarettes more often and tend to have lifestyles that are less healthy - pertaining to diet and the level of physical activity.
