(NEW CASTLE) - A traffic stop in New Castle for an expired plate led to the arrest of a Martinsville woman.
Trooper Justin Beamon stopped the white Chevrolet at State Road 3 and Garner Road on Monday around 10:37 p.m. for a plate that showed it expired in 2016. After making contact with the driver, 29-yeaer-old Ryan Pierce, the trooper determined he was driving while his license was suspended.
A Henry County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit was nearby, and came to assist.
During an open air walk search around vehicle, the dog indicated the presence of narcotics. During a search a prescription drug was found, a pill believed to be a prescription drug called Methocarbamol.
A passenger in the car, 24-year-old Crystal Sparks, of Martinsville, didn't have a prescription for the drug. She was arrested and charged with possession of a legend drug, Level 5 felony. She was lodged in the Henry County Jail.
Pierce, was cited for driving while his driver's license was suspended and released. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
