(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested on charges of domestic battery after he allgedly took a woman’s keys and phone and license plate off her van and then slammed a vehicle door on her.
According to Lawrence County Sheriff Mike Branham, officers were called to a home in the 1720 block of Rariden Hill Road after receiving a 911 call Monday at 1:51 p.m. reporting a domestic fight.
When officers arrived, they spoke to a 49-year-old woman who told police that her husband, 51-year-old Michael Robbins, took her keys and phone and would not let her leave the home.
She told police she then removed the license plate off the van in retaliation so he couldn't leave either.
"The victim says that he became upset, which led to a further confrontation with the suspect," Sheriff Branham added.
Robbins then slammed the vehicle door on the woman and pushed her to the ground, causing pain and bruising and small scratches.
Robbins was arrested on a Level 5 charge of domestic battery and Interfering with a 911 call.
The woman then told police there were drugs in the house that belonged to Robbins.
"Officers located multiple items of paraphernalia, which had a white-powdery residue, which field tested positive for methamphetamine, and a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana," Sheriff Branham added.
Robbins was then charged with possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.
