(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Police say an apparent heroin overdose claimed the life of one woman Wednesday and led to the arrest of the man who allegedly sold the drug to her.
Police were called to an apartment in the 1000 block of West Country Club Drive after a 911 caller reported that CPR was being performed on a 31-year-old woman.
According to Bloomington Police Capt. Steve Kellams, officers took over CPR, and medics administered a dose of the naloxone before the woman was taken by ambulance to IU Health Hospital where she died at 2:45 p.m .
Investigating detectives determined the woman overdosed on heroin, and they arrested the man they believe sold her the drug, 25-year-old Sage Stephen of Bloomington, on charges of dealing in a narcotic drug. He is being held in the Monroe County Jail on a $10,000 surety, $500 cash bond.
This is the second overdose death in Bloomington in a week. The first happened on February 8 when 30-year-old Stepanie Elliott died from a heroin overdose.
