(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University Police were called to hospital Saturday to investigate a sexual assault.
According to IU Police Capt. Andy Stephenson, police were alerted to the assault after an IU Health Bloomington Hospital emergency room employee reported they were treating a woman who had been sexually assaulted at the Delta Chi fraternity house.
The woman, was taken to the hospital by concerned friends.
The woman told police the incident occurred between 3:30 and 7:45 p.m. on Saturday at the fraternity. Police say drugs and alcohol were involved. The woman told police there was some consensual contact, but that contact went too far leading to the assault. The woman then decided she did not want to file charges or have police investigate the incident.
Police say the woman had no visible injuries.
Capt. Stephenson says police did speak to the man involved, but will respect the woman's wishes and not pursue an investigation because there was no ongoing threat to the community.
