(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was killed in a rear-end collision on U.S. 50 East on Friday afternoon.
According to a Bedford Police report, 43-year-old Jason Bailey of Bedford died after suffering internal head injuries.
According to police, Bailey was traveling east on U.S. 50 East in a 1999 Chevrolet SUV and was approaching Limestone Run Road.
Four motorists told police that a small dog was in the road, causing traffic to slow down.
When traffic slowed, a witness told police that Bailey's vehicle was traveling too fast to stop.
Police say Bailey attempted to swerve to miss the 2012 International DuraStar truck, driven by 44-year-old Lee Howe of Johannesburg, Michigan. However, Bailey's vehicle struck the rear of the truck.
Bailey was in his vehicle and not breathing when police arrived. When an AMR ambulance crew arrived, medical personnel pronounced Bailey dead at the scene.
